The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Bells Corners will be relocating following a development project planned for its current location.
A staple of the community at 310 Moodie Drive for the last 15 years, the Thrift Store will be temporarily closing its doors on November 24. The closure follows the reported development of a six-storey hotel and one-storey commercial retail unit at Moodie Drive. The Thrift Store will officially re-open at its new larger location at 1826 Robertson Road in early 2019.
“We are so excited to have found a new location that will allow us to continue to serve not only those in need, but those who are in love with thrift,” says Carmen Bejancu, Retail District Manager at The Salvation Army Thrift Store. “Bells Corners is such an important part of our work in Ottawa and surrounding areas.”
According to Bejancu the new location will not be ready in time for an immediate re-opening, however a temporary Donor Welcome Centre will be open in early November at 1826 Robertson Road. The community is welcomed to drop off their gently used items to help get the store ready for the New Year.
“Donations are the lifeblood of what we do, and we will need the support of the community more than ever during our temporary closure to assist in filling our bigger and better location in the community,” Bejancu said. “This location is vital to our success in the city as we can always rely on Bells Corners and surrounding areas to donate.”
Through generous donations the Bells Corners Salvation Army Thrift Store provides funds annually to support neighbours in need through Salvation Army programs and services that assist in the fight against poverty for families and individuals.
